missnowman | Update on archiving MSM

Sorry to have kept you waiting so long, work is eating me up every week.

First and foremost: As long as LJ is alive, we will stay on LJ!

The page is evidently still working and so we'll keep staying here since everyone is used to posting here. It's much easier than to fully switch to Dreamwidth since it doesn't support image hosting and it's just not as comfortable as a functioning LJ is. But the bigger news...

All posts as of 10th March 2022 have been archived on Dreamwidth!

I could not migrate the comments, but I'll probably try doing that again this weekend or sometime later. Just for archiving purposes, the comments aren't important, I hope. My plan for this is as following: For now we have 1069 posts archived. As far as I can tell those are all working, they still have their locked function if they were friends-locked on LJ as well, so media should be safe. Links are working if they're working on LJ (so there might be dead links, but they're dead on LJ as well). What you will have to do now, is to join the community on DW to have access to the locked posts. Joining is as easy as on here, it's open membership. You can create a DW account here. If you have already imported your own LJ to DW, you might already be subscribed to the MSM archive, I saw that some of you already have posting access even. I'm not entirely sure how to connect your LJ to DW anymore, I think you need the same mail address and URL, but maybe someone can elaborate in the comments.

The posts aren't being synched with the LJ community automatically, but I will try to do that regularly and/or if the community members who post on here want to, they can copy their posts onto DW as soon as they've joined there. Comments are turned off on DW as this will be solely for archiving purposes for now. It's a backup for LJ and not meant to be an active community, only LJ stays active for now. If LJ dies after all, we move to DW. Posting should work pretty much the same as here on LJ, if you need a free image host, you can use imgbb for example.

I know the layout needs some getting used to, but DW isn't as well worked on as LJ and thus I tried to find something that has everything we need. You can find the usual menu (calendar, profile, tags etc.) under "Navigation" on the upper right, it's a drop down menu. If there's an active switch to DW, this all can still be changed of course.

You can still join the Discord as well in case LJ suddenly goes offline. Thank you for your patience and sticking so closely to this community ❤️
